The only way to marry Serana or any other vampire is through the use of a mod. If you deny the gift from Harkon you can get it again from Serana by making a choice entering the Soul Cairn. So yes… You can, but you can not accept it from Harkon. Vampire Lord is also pretty good for stealth builds. It boosts your sneaking and illusion. If you get to higher levels, a lot of illusion spells aren't strong enough, so the boost helps, and stacks with fortify illusion potions. Serana can die. Joining the Volkihar vampires requires you to first complete the quest Awakening.

Hi, I've played the Dawnguard questline multiple times, I generally side with the Vampires I have mostly casters and I tried to induct my Khajiit necromancer into Harkon's court; yet everytime Harkon bites me, my character simply dies it fades to black and then shows my character dead a few feet from Harkon.
Is there any way to fix this? I made a separate save and sided with the Dawnguard just killed harkon. Is there anyways to go back and fix this? I'd like to be a vampire without having to cure myself everytime I need to talk to the Dawnguard. Of course the Dawnguard will reject you as a vampire, and you can't switch sides. Luckily having Serana as a follower lets you restore your gift, but only once! So cure yourself after the Cairn or soul trap yourself , finish the Dawnguard side, and then ask Serana to restore your powers.
