The only diff is one has limestone, the other has slate. I've got over 1k hours and I've never ever learned what's the difference btw these two. I'm assuming Tynan and boys created this option different stone types for a reason. I'm just not sure what's the crucial practical difference.
From RWwiki: Slate is light, Limestone is useful for furniture. I'm pretty certain a good constructor is more important than the materials used for furniture. And I have a few. So, appreciate if anyone can spare some time to enlighten me on the practical consideration s in choosing a site with limestone vs slate.

Limestone is slightly behind granite when it comes to hp, and is slightly less beatiful than marble. Limestone is way superior. Jigain View Profile View Posts. When it comes down to stone, there's three considerations: 1. A rock in the hand is worth two in the bush. If you have stone right near your settlement, and a different type of stone that's on the other side of the map, consider using the stone near your base first.
Granite is the densest stone in the game, which affects the HP of the items constructed by it. Slate is the most frail. Out of slate and limestone, limestone wins this category. None of the rocks tops marble for beauty. But between slate and limestone, limestone wins this category.
So, unless limestone's way off from your colony, I'd recommend limestone. As far as I am concerned, Slate has very little strategic consideration of value. In practice, the only reason I ever choose slate over any other available rock is for its colour.
The main benefit of slate is actually that it's the least valuable - literally. It's so bad that even the raiders are reluctant to attack you for it.
