If Lagiacrus enters Area 10, immediately start toward the exit to Area 11 and enter that area. You'll find another batch of Epioth here and, most importantly, no Lagiacrus.

The Lagiacrus will swim back and forth between Areas 10 and 11, so continue avoiding him by swimming into the next area. You'll know he's in the area when music starts and an eye icon appears next your hunter's name in the top-left corner of the screen. Try your best to avoid being swiped by Lagiacrus as you swim past him to enter the next area. Keep this up until you have the three Monster Guts. Return to Base Camp and deposit the requested items into the Delivery Box to complete the quest.

Sunken Treasures Red Coral Stones are found at the underwater gather spots in Areas 10 and Move through Area 9 and into Area The subquest for this quest is to slay three Sharqs. Sharqs are aquatic creatures that, oddly enough, resemble sharks.

There are several Sharqs near the seafloor in Area Sharqs are aggressive creatures, but not very powerful. They will attempt to swim away when low on health; dash after them by pressing the B button and continue attacking. When a Sharq dies, it will either disappear on the spot or swim off and disappear. Rest assured, this counts as a kill. If you want to carve the Sharq, you'll have to make the killing blow with a Fishing Harpoon. Underwater gather spots in Areas 10 and 11 appear as a pile of bones on the seafloor.

Area: Deserted Island Kill six Ludroth to complete this quest and unlock the two-star quest tier. There are Ludroth in Areas 10 and They do hit a bit harder than Jaggi, but their attacks are slow and easy enough to dodge.

The Ludroth's projectile attack will inflict an annoying status ailment called Light Waterblight if it hits. While suffering from Waterblight, your hunter will recover stamina at a reduced rate. To avoid this, don't stand directly in front of a Ludroth for too long; attack from the side instead to avoid being caught off guard by its projectile attack.

There are three Ludroth along the shoreline in Area 10 and one underwater. Kill these four Ludroth and then swim to Area Ludroth are in their element underwater, so you may have a tougher time fighting them underwater than you did fighting them on land. Nevertheless, just keep at it, down a First-aid Med if need be and continue killing Ludroth until you've slain six. Start by speaking to the Argosy Captain to learn about trading. The captain has some useful items for trade, such as the Mega Pickaxe and Mega Bugnet.

You'll need rare items to trade for rare goods, though. You won't find the captain in town all the time; he periodically takes the Argosy on a voyage and may bring back rare items to trade. You can order meals from the Itinerant Cook once he's behind the Quest Counter.

To order a meal, you first pick two ingredients from a list and then specify the preparation method. Different dishes offer the possibility of different bonuses, such as a boost to Attack, Defence, or Health. The boost will last for the duration of one quest. There is also the potential for negative effects, such as decreased stamina or health, so it's a bit of a gamble. Speak to the Argosy Captain after speaking to the Itinerant Cook and the captain will give you a Voucher for one free meal.

Talk to the Wyverian Artisan and he'll give you a Pawn Talisman. This item is a Charm, which you can equip to your character to gain the Skill Points it offers. Bug Hunt Since you're only up against bugs here albeit big ones , completing this quest should be a cinch.

Completing the two subquests might not be as easy, as doing so requires a bit of luck. These mushrooms can be found at common mushroom gather spots, but come more easily from gather spots that appear as a patch of white toadstools.

Be sure to deposit any subquest items in the Delivery Box at Base Camp before killing a twelfth Altaroth, as the quest will end as soon as you do. Secret of the Crystal Bones Crystal Bones can be mined from the ore deposits in Areas 6 and The only way to get to Area 11 is to drop down from the cliff along the west end of Area When in the desert areas -- Areas 8, 9 and 10 -- you'll need to drink either a Cool Drink or a Hot Drink to counteract the negative effect caused by the extreme heat or extreme cold.

If it's night, drink a Hot Drink to keep warm. A cold hunter's stamina bar deteriorates more rapidly than default. If it's day, drink a Cool Drink. Overheated hunters gradually lose health. Completing the subquest requires killing four Giggi. Giggi are the small, slug-like creatures that will latch onto you and sap your health if you give them the chance.

There are Giggi in Areas 7 and 6. No Guts, No Glory Delex are carnivorous creatures and aggressive, but they do not deal much damage. They swim through the sand in packs and look like a cross between a shark and a crocodile. Included in the Supply Chest for this quest are two Sonic Bombs.

Throw a Sonic Bomb near swimming Delex to root them up and temporarily stun them. Although Delex do not hit hard, they can inflict an annoying status ailment called Light Waterblight with their projectile attack. When you see a Delex hunched over with its head and torso up out of the sand, it's readying an attack. The Delex will spit a sandy projectile a few feet directly in front of it. Your hunter will suffer from temporary Waterblight if hit by this attack, so get out of the way when you notice a Delex hunched over with its head and torso up out of the sand Completing the subquest requires killing eight Delex.

You will likely achieve this in the course of gathering three Monster Guts, as they are uncommon carves. Return to Base Camp once you have at least three Monster Guts and deposit them in the Supply Box to complete the quest. Big Game Hunting You might want to purchase a few Potions from the market for this quest, as the Great Jaggi is hits harder than you're used to.

The Great Jaggi is in Area 6 to start. He might venture into Area 5 or Area 7 if this is not your first time attempting this quest. Area 6 is chaotic. With Jaggi and Jaggia occupying the area, taking down the Great Jaggi won't be easy. Hit the Great Jaggi with a Paintball when you first encounter him to mark him on your map. Paintballs are useful for tracking monsters that move between areas often.

The Great Jaggi will limp into one of the adjacent areas when he is low on health usually Area 7 or Area 5, or back to Area 6 , so hitting him with a Paintball is good start.

Don't bother attacking the Jaggi or Jaggia. They'll get in your way, but try your best to concentrate on attacking the Great Jaggi. The trick here is proper evasion. Roll away from your target after performing a combo to avoid being struck by a quick attack. Learn the cues for the Great Jaggi's attacks so you'll know what's coming and can act accordingly. Hold R to block an attack if rolling won't get you out of harm's way. Always be on the lookout for an opening.

Attack when he attacks and misses, when he stands on the spot and growls, when he scratches at the dirt with his hind legs and roars, or while he is feeding to recover stamina.

Controlling the camera during combat takes some getting used to. If you're using Classic Style 1, you can control the camera manually using the Right Stick.

If you're using Classic Style 2, the D-pad controls the camera. Pressing the L button will snap the camera behind your hunter. It's best to manually adjust the camera while your hunter is finishing an attack animation, or while you're moving around the area but not attacking. Try to keep the camera centred on the Great Jaggi at all times. If you're trying to get some distance from your enemy so you can use a First-aid Med or Potion, manually control the camera so you know where the Great Jaggi and any other enemies are and what they're doing.

Before using a healing item or a Whetstone, you have to take into account the time it takes for the accompanying animation to finish. Sprinting a few paces and using a healing item is unwise, as doing so will leave you vulnerable. Any health gained will be lost if you're hit, and you might even end up in a worse state.

If possible, temporarily move to an adjacent area and use a healing item there. Use a Whetstone as well if your weapon is dull or even if it's not. A good time to use Whetstones in particular is when your target flees to another area.

You may also want to use a Flash Bomb to temporarily stun the Great Jaggi and hopefully any smaller monsters around him. Doing so will give you time sharpen your weapon and heal. To use a Flash Bomb effectively, face away from the monster and throw the bomb in front of you while the monster is facing your hunter's back. While stunned, the Great Jaggi will continuously swing his tail until the stun wears off, so using a Flash Bomb as a way of getting some hits in isn't the best idea. The Great Jaggi is slow and lumbering but has a handful of damaging attacks.

The least damaging is his bite; to avoid this one, just don't stand directly in front of him for too long. When the Jaggi is about to bite, he will rear his head back and to the side.

His bite comes out fast, but you can dodge it with a roll if you're quick enough. He can also bite you while you're next to him. This side bite is a bit harder to avoid, so be on the ready. Another of the Great Jaggi's attacks is his tail swing. He swings his tail twice in a clockwise direction. Keep to his right side if possible, otherwise you can block the tail swing with your shield or dodge it with a roll. The most damaging attack in the Great Jaggi's arsenal is his hip check.

This attack is the easiest to spot, however. Take note of the sound the Great Jaggi makes just before hip checking. Evading the attack isn't as easy.

The Great Jaggi's body is of considerable length, so if he's coming at you with a hip check and it doesn't look like you'll be able to roll to the side to avoid it, hold up your shield and block the attack instead. The Great Jaggi lunges when he hip checks, so avoid underestimating the reach of this attack. When close to death, the Great Jaggi will limp away to another area. If you need to heal or sharpen your weapon, do so first before following him.

When he uses one of the tunnels only accessible to monsters to travel to another area, the Great Jaggi will leave behind a glittering spot on the ground; gather at this spot to obtain an item. The Great Jaggi will attempt to restore health by sleeping if you don't keep up with him. He regains health at a slow rate, so it's not a big deal if he manages to catch a bit of shut-eye before you can get to him.

If you spot him sleeping, you can wake him up with a Jumping Slash and a Chop combo. Completing Subquest A requires you wound the Great Jaggi's head. How to go about doing this should be fairly obvious. Direct your attacks at the Great Jaggi's head and his frill will soon become frayed, signifying that his head is wounded.

Avoid attempting to attack his head with a combo, as doing so leaves you vulnerable to his bite. It doesn't take much to wound the Great Jaggi's head, so just hit him with a Jumping Slash or attack his head from the side and you should have this subquest done in no time.

Wound the Great Jaggi's head in this way and you'll get some additional loot on the reward screen. Subquest B, which requires you to stun the Great Jaggi, is not as easy. To stun a monster, you must attack its head quite a bit. When stunned, stars will appear above the monster's head and it will be incapacitated for a short while.

Only certain attacks carry the potential to stun, and some weapon types are better capable of stunning than others. This is a tough fight for the beginner, but just keep at it. If your hunter falls, he or she will be returned to Base Camp and your reward will be halved. You have three lives; die three times and you will fail the quest. When the Great Jaggi is dead you can carve him three times. Who's the Boss? The goal of this type of quest is not to kill the target monster, but to weaken it until it's limping and then use a trap and Tranq Bombs to capture it.

You've slain a Great Jaggi, so it stands to reason that you can capture one too. The Supply Box for this quest holds an EZ Shock Trap, but it's always a good idea to bring an extra trap with you on a capture quest to avoid blowing the whole thing by setting your one and only trap at the wrong time. Also grab the Map, First-aid Meds and Rations before setting out. Check Areas 4 and 5 for the Great Jaggi first. Kill four of the Jaggia in Area 4 to complete Subquest A. Completing Subquest B requires killing 10 Jaggi, which can be found in most areas during this quest.

Once you've located the Great Jaggi, hit him with a Paintball and start attacking. Continue attacking him and he will eventually limp away to Area 3 or 5.

Stop attacking when you see him limping and allow him to leave the area. If he heads into Area 5, wait a bit before following him in to allow him to fall asleep. Follow the weakened Great Jaggi into the area when ready. Select the EZ Shock Trap and find a suitable spot to set it down. Anywhere is fine, but you must take into account the length of the accompanying animation. An enemy strike will stop the animation and interrupt the setting of the trap, so set the trap a few paces from the entrance of the area before the Great Jaggi and his entourage reach you.

If the Great Jaggi is sleeping, set the trap before waking him with a kick to the head. When the trap is set, lure the Great Jaggi onto it by positioning yourself so the trap is between you and him. The Great Jaggi will become stunned when he touches the trap.

As soon as he's trapped, equip your Tranq Bombs, move up as close as you can and hit him with two bombs to tranquilize him. You only have three Tranq Bombs, so there's only room to screw up once. This is why it's best to hit the Great Jaggi up close -- both to avoid missing him and to avoid unintentionally wasting one of the Tranq Bombs on a Jaggi or Jaggia.

Kill the four Jaggia in Area 6 before they can deplete the Shakalaka's health bar, which is visible in the top-left corner of the screen. When the Jaggia are dead, Cha-Cha will burrow in the ground and reappear with full health in Area 9. Head to Area 9, kill the three Ludroth there and Cha- Cha will burrow in the ground and reappear in Area 2.

There are eight or so Jaggi in Area 2. Kill them all and then join Cha-Cha at Base Camp to complete the quest. Cha-Cha is an AI partner who can attack enemies, gather and carve additional items for you and boost your Attack, Defence, or Health by dancing. Check out the "Moga Village" section of this guide for more about Cha-Cha.

You've also unlocked the Switch Axe, a new weapon type. This weapon has two modes: an axe mode and a sword mode. The axe offers a higher damage output, but the sword deals elemental damage provided the Switch Axe you're using has an elemental damage attribute. Try each weapon type until you find one you like.

The Arena mode is good for trying out new weapons, as you won't have to craft them yourself. It is best to stick to melee weapons offline; leave the gunner weapons alone for now and concentrate on finding another melee weapon type you're comfortable with. And, if you haven't already, you might want to look into forging some new armour. The Jaggi armour set is a good choice, as each piece gives 10 defence points and the materials are easy to come by. You'll likely have to hunt or capture the Great Jaggi a few more times to gather all of the materials, though.

Rhenoplos Rampage! If one senses you, it will most likely charge. The Rhenoplos will rear back on its hind legs before charging straight ahead; just roll to the side to avoid getting knocked down. If there is more than one Rhenoplos in the area do not start carving a slain one if there is another close by, as you won't be able to dodge the charge while your hunter is caught in the carving animation.

Remember to deliver any subquest items before killing your sixth and final Rhenoplos. Herbivore Egg Hunt! Though Monster eggs are placed in your inventory when collected, your hunter must literally carry each egg from the monster's nest back to Base Camp and deposit them in the Delivery Box.

Thus, while carrying an egg back to camp, you'll have to sprint past the monsters in each area and avoid getting hit -- all while keeping an eye on your hunter's stamina bar. The Herbivore Eggs are in Area 7.

There is a secret passage in Base Camp that leads right to Area 7. The passage is at the southwest end of camp. Head left from the Supply Box after collecting the Map and Rations and enter the tunnel there to skip to Area 7. In Area 7, consume as many Rations as necessary to max out your hunter's stamina bar and then search the pile of bones under the tree at the west end of the area to find a Herbivore Egg. There are Rhenoplos here and they are very territorial, so immediately start sprinting to the exit at the east end of the area and enter Area 5.

There are five Jaggia in Area 5 which you can slay to complete Subquest B -- but that can wait until you've delivered the egg! Immediately start sprinting toward the exit to Area 4. Jaggia are slower than the Jaggi, and with any luck Cha-Cha will have them distracted, so just make a beeline for Area 4 and spin your camera around using the D-pad or Right Stick so you can see if any Jaggia are coming toward you.

In Area 4, hug the north wall of the area as you make your way to Area 1. There are only Aptonoth in Area 1, so you're home free once through Area 4. You must deliver one more egg to complete the quest. The route here is a bit different, and the monsters present in a couple of the areas you just passed through have changed. Start by using the secret passage at Base Camp to skip to Area 7.

In Area 7, eat a Ration or piece of meat to increase the size of your hunter's stamina bar and then search the pile of bones under the tree at the west end of the area to find another Herbivore Egg. When you have the Herbivore Egg, sprint across to Area 5 just as you did before. Sprint past the five Jaggia in Area 5 again and enter Area 4. In Area 4 there are two Rhenoplos and two Altaroth right at the entrance.

Curiously, a large boulder now blocks the exit to Area 1, so this time you'll have to sprint across Area 4 and enter Area 3. The Altaroth are the biggest problem here, as they will continue to follow you until you're out of the area. Keep sprinting to avoid getting hit; with a full stamina bar, you'll be able to make it before your hunter becomes exhausted and drops the egg.

There are only harmless Felyne in Area 3, so you can take your time here. Hang back before entering Area 2 and wait for your hunter's stamina bar to refill completely. Area 2 is the toughest to get through unscathed. There are Rhenoplos and Melynx in this area. The Melynx in particular are the problem, as they move quickly and lunge when they attack.

Sprint around the Melynx and Rhenoplos and spin your camera around so you can see the enemies behind you as you sprint to Area 1. Swerve to the side if you see a Melynx running toward you. There are three Rhenoplos in Area 1. They're easy enough to get past. Pest Control Area: Flooded Forest Subquest A: Deliver 3 Royal Rhinos Reward: z Bnahabra is the Vespoid of Monster Hunter Tri -- a flying insect that serves no other purpose than to annoy you while you're climbing, mining, carving, fishing or performing any other action that locks your hunter into an animation.

The Lance is well-suited for killing Bnahabra; a single High Thrust perform by pressing the A button, or by pushing the Right Stick down should do it. But any other weapon type will do. There's actually a Bnahabra armour set, but to carve materials from a Bnahabra it must be intact when killed. Killing a Bnahabra without destroying it requires poison.

There are two Poison Smoke Bombs in the Supply Chest; simply throw one down while a Bnahabra is in front of you to poison and kill it, leaving its body intact. Weak weapons with poison damage will also do the trick, as will poison bowgun shots. There are Bnahabra in Areas 2, 7, 9, and Just head straight to Area 10, as you can kill at least eight Bnahabra there.

Completing the subquest requires catching three Royal Rhinos and depositing them in the Delivery Box. Royal Rhinos are insects you can catch if you have a Bugnet. Use the Bugnet at the insect gather spots in Areas 2, 7 and 10 to catch Royal Rhinos. If you plan to complete the subquest, remember to deliver the Royal Rhinos before killing the twelfth and final Bnahabra. The Deadliest Catch To enter Area 8 during this quest you'll have to swim through Area 6, as the two other entrances are blocked off.

Completing the subquest requires killing three Catfish.
