At the staff meeting how does nurse ratched

After the staff meeting, Chief returns to his regular cleaning duties but hides in the bathroom for a little while. He looks himself over in the mirror and isn't comfortable with what he says. It isn't his face he's sees "That ain't me, that ain't my face" Pg. This allowed Chief Bromden to wake up one night and look out an open window.

Normally he would wake up to a room full of smoke or some other horrible experience. This time he was able to get up and enjoy the night for a moment. While he was looking out the window he watched a dog in a field under the night sky. A flock of geese flew over and the dog chased the honking birds. Later on in the section, the patients get a little riled up at Therapeutic Community. After this part, the patients go to the pool. Here, McMurphy talks to a patient from Disturbed who is life guarding.

He pretends not to be aware of her standing behind him, glaring away. But then she realizes that the rest of the staff are staring at her. The doctor starts the staff meeting. Notice how everyone assumes that Chief is totally deaf, which allows him to spy on the staff meeting.

The doctor is forced to continue the meeting his own. So the doctor asks the rest of the nurses what they think. They begin to discuss McMurphy. He makes a mistake saying that. Anybody can see that McMurphy is not normal. The rest agree that he displays marked hostility and rebellion — which is clearly a mark of being insane rather than being oppressed.

So the question becomes whether or not he should be sent upstairs to the Disturbed Ward. All except McMurphy, however, are completely aware of Ratched's anger. Even the orderlies and aides watch Ratched to see how she will react to the insubordinate behavior.

Chief remarks that "there's no more fog anyplace," indicating that he believes McMurphy's rebellious behavior has removed it. Chief is led to the staff room, where Nurse Ratched will conduct a staff meeting. Chief tells the reader that cleaning the staff room is a frightening chore because the staff emits poisonous and acidic gases and fluids.

At times, Chief says, the staff is able to make a patient materialize on the table, "vulnerable to any fiendish notion they took. The staff room is tense, and Nurse Ratched reacts suspiciously to Chief's presence. In a humorously and satirically written discussion, the staff debates what they should do with the impertinent McMurphy. The staff, described by Chief as "boys," attempts to anticipate Ratched's wishes by recommending that he be sent to the Disturbed Ward.
